 Dear Nicole,

It's me.       I know we haven't talked since the divorce, but I've been doing a lot of thinking lately.       I needed to write you; I can't get you out of my head.

When we split, I lost myself in work - most days I even forgot to eat.      I worked to keep my mind off of what happened, and for a while, it did the trick

But my company only has so much for me to do, and once the work ran out, I couldn't hide from the truth anymore.        I lost you.       You aren't here, and it's my fault.

Do you remember when we first met?       At the carnival that night, I couldn't believe my good luck when the ride operator yelled that you needed a partner for the Ferris wheel.       You were so embarrassed, but you were the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen - even with your cheeks all red.

My friend and I both ran up to get on the ride with you, but I was faster.     We'd noticed you and your friends in line of course, but you were the one I couldn't take my eyes off of

I'm sorry that I stopped.       I'm sorry for so many things.

 Love, Eli

 Dear Nicole,

It's me, Eli.      I know we haven't talked since the divorce, but I've been doing a lot of thinking lately.

I needed to write you, because I can't stop thinking about you.       When you left, I spent all of my time working.      I worked so much I even forgot to eat some days.

I worked so I wouldn't be sad, and for a while, it helped.       But after I finished all the work, I had to face what happened.       I couldn't keep hiding from the truth anymore, because I lost you.

You aren't here, and it's my fault.

Do you remember when we first met?       At the carnival that night, I couldn't believe it when the man running the Ferris wheel yelled that you needed a partner.

You were so embarrassed!       But you were also the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen.      My friend and I both ran to get on the ride with you, but I was faster.       We saw you and your other friends in line, but you were the one I was interested in.

I was only looking at you.       I'm sorry that I stopped.       I'm sorry for so many things.

 Love, Eli
